We had an evaluation of our new dog. Kat was kind and explained everything to us and affirmed our desire to get Lambeau socialized and confident. We were offered classes but not pressured. A pleasant experience

We have had our two German Shepherds in the Duffy's Dog Training program for 12 dog day school sessions so far. They have come a long way even after a few days of training!!! We can walk both dogs with fantastic leash manners and no stress walks now. What a change we've seen in our dogs! Our family is not finished with the one-on-one training that teaches us humans the skills we need in managing our pups, but from what we've learned so far, we love the knowledge we are gaining. Thanks Duffy's!!!

When we brought Cruiser in for an evaluation, we had no control over him. He was excited and wanted to see everyone and everything. He would not listen to us when we told him to sit (and yes he knew his commands at that time, as we had him in an obedience training course). During our evaluation, Dave the trainer took over and in minutes he was sitting and loose leash without leaving our side. We have had him in the course and Cruiser has had a 100% turn around. Highly recommend Duffy's.

My husband and I are new to owning a dog ourselves without any help and our doodle is going to get big quickly so we decided to send him to Duffy's. I noticed by day one a difference in Joey's behavior. I want to continue to send him there to day classes so just he can stay up with it. I fully plan on taking our second dog there whenever we decided to get another one. I completely recommend Duffy's without hesitation.

My Simba was a Pomeranian rescue with a very aggressive temperament. I really thought I was going to have to return him because he would bite me, many times for no reason. I brought him to the training center as a last resort. I remember Matthew sitting and listening to me while my dog was climbing up and down me and running around like a wild child. At one point he asked if he could lake Simba's leash from me, and seriously in two minutes had my dog sitting next to him not making a sound...WOW! After working at the training center for the next few weeks, I saw an immediate change in Simba, he was well mannered, and pleasant to be around. No longer did my family members run away from him, but actually enjoyed petting him! I continued to work with Simba using Duffy's techniques for the next several years, binging him in for a few Doggy daycare days to keep him heading in the right direction. I was so confident with Simba, I took him to church with me for all the kids to love on them and play. I remember the first time I saw him playing with the children I just cried because of how far he had come! I would have never thought when I first brought him home we would ever get to this point! Thank you Matthew Duffy!

I have been taking my Australian Shepherd pup to Duffy's for a few months now for day school and personal lessons. Of course, it has helped him with basic manners and commands as accurately advertise. However, most of all Duffy's has given me the know-how on how to work with my Aussie at home. Training hasn't just help him become an obedient, but has strengthen our bond as human and dog. I would highly recommend anyone with a dog coming to Duffy's!

I have my beloved Penny being trained at Duffy's and I can say I am very impressed! From the initial evaluation to the one on one lessons I have felt like all of the staff care. Duffy's came highly recommended to me by many of my friends. Cost wasn't an issue for me because I wanted peace of mind when I am outside with Penny and my other animals. I went with the full program option because I knew that although my Penny is a very polite dog, she doesn't like cats and chickens and possibly other dogs, so I knew she would need the doggie school and the time working with the trainers. I am so pleased with her progress and can tell a huge difference when Penny is around my chickens. I have had my first one on one lesson with Josh so far and let me just tell you...he is great with Penny and I can tell that she respects him. Josh explained some of my dog's problem behavior to me in a very down to earth way and in a way that I could understand. He has shown me how to correct Penny in a way that works! Duffy's approach to dog training works and you will see results soon after starting the program! Duffy's staff are great people, they have all been helpful with any questions I have in the mornings. The full program is flexible enough for me to work around my work schedule. I was nervous about leaving my baby in the care of anyone but this place has proven to me that they take care of your dogs and that shows in how excited Penny is in the mornings when I tell her it is time to go to school! Also, the staff take pride in keeping the facility clean. I will return to Duffy's for any and all of my dog training needs!

I would highly recommend Duffy's Dog training services. They are very welcoming, immediately they explain that there is no dog untrainable no matter what breed, size or age. I really enjoyed that we got to be involved in the one on one training sessions with our Goldendoodle, Jockee. We had several one hour sessions and it gave my husband and I the opportunity to ask questions and be involved in the process. I thought it was useful that the trainers explained the genetic history that our dog carried. It was helpful to know that every breed of dog was engineered for a different purpose. Our dog Jockee has made huge progression and he is only 5 months old, thanks to the work and guidance from Duffy's Dog Training. The entire staff is fantastic, it is obvious that they are experienced and love dogs!!!

My husband and I started bringing our black lab to Duffys about 1 month ago. We are so impressed with the improvement in our lab already. The staff is extremely professional and it is amazing to see each of them work with the dogs. During the initial evaluation and first visit to Duffy's dog training, you could tell Matt was extremely intelligent and well versed on the way a dog's mind works and the different characteristics of each one. From then on, we have had a couple private lessons and our instructor Josh has been just as impressive. Not only do they work on the dog's behavior and have incredible correction techniques, but they have a love and respect for the animal as well. We would highly recommend this training center to anyone who is looking for any type of training for their four legged friend! Incredible work.

I really love this place. I brought both of my dogs here for manners week. One dog is four years old and the other is 5 months old and they both have improved a whole lot and I will defiantly be bringing my dogs back. The fact that every morning my dogs were happy and excited to get up at 6am and go to school was really the icing on the cake for me. The trainers at Duffy’s were very friendly every morning when I dropped my dogs off which made me feel wonderful with leaving them there all day and then when I would pick them up in the afternoon they would tell me how good they did that day which is something I loved. As for my personal trainer I had for the private lessons he was amazing as well he made sure I didn’t leave Duffy’s without feeling comfortable handling my dogs on my own. He encouraged me that I could do everything that he was doing, he told me how well my dogs did at school and how well they improved from the first day (Monday) and our first private lesson to the last day of school (Friday) which was also our last lesson. I would defiantly recommend sending your dogs here for training. Not only do my dogs have a wonderful bond with me but now they have a lovely bond with the trainers at Duffy’s with makes me feel amazing about bringing them to such a loving and caring facility. I cannot thank Duffys Dog Training enough ofr helping my dogs with their manners, they will definitely be seeing me here again soon! 🙂

We adopted a hound mix from a local shelter that is a sweet pup but we noticed she had some "intolerance" issues. We were unsure of how to get this under control so we sought help through Duffy's. Dave has been working with us and our sweet Presley and we are more than pleased that we made the decision to enroll her in the full program. After only a week in the program we noticed a huge difference in Presley. Not only is she much calmer but we now we enjoy taking her for walks in the neighborhood and introducing her to our neighbors. We look forward to the rest of our training and will forever be grateful to Duffy's for the training they have offered us and our dog!
- LAUREN J.
I cannot talk highly enough about the knowledgeable, caring and personable staff at Duffy's. We enrolled our French Bulldog, Chapo, into the full training program and it has already been beneficial after only 4 days. Chapo's manner, demeanor and overall behavior have improved tremendously. The staff is awesome at training your dog and then training you how to reinforce the concepts at home. I had my Rottweiler and boxer trained by Duffy's 15 years ago and am back with my new dog. It is worth every penny and more to have a dog who is well behaved.
- AMY E.
I have two German shepherds named Guinness and Bailey. Guinness is a year old and Bailey is nine months old. Guinness went through the full training program, and I must say it was very much worth the cost. Not only did he go through day school, but we had individual training sessions with trainers who taught us what we needed to know to handle the him correctly. They showed us the correct way to use the commands and went through many different scenarios. Bailey is attending day school now. We worked with trainers Dave, Tyler, and Josh. They are all exceptional trainers, and I would recommend any of them. Our focus for both dogs is manners and traditional commands.
- CHRISTY F.
We have only been with Duffy’s Dog Training Center for a little over 2 weeks, and I am beyond impressed. The difference in our Doberman puppy (Barrett) is amazing. We took Barrett on Spring Break with us, prior to Duffy’s training, and he was exhausted for us. Walking him on a leash was a workout. We also dreaded when people would approach us because he wanted to jump all over them.
We knew it was time for him to be enrolled and knew exactly where to go, as several family members have brought their dogs to Duffy’s for years with nothing but positive experiences.
After the first week, we had a different dog. Now it’s been a little over 2 weeks, and we look forward to taking Barrett with us wherever we go.
He gets so many compliments on his manners when we go out in public. We have to give full credit to the staff at Duffy’s.
- GINA O.
We enrolled our 6-month-old Labrador retriever, Apollo, in the full program and cannot believe the difference in the type of dog he has become even after the first visit. We have now completed his program and are so grateful to Duffy's. We highly recommend David. He was great with Apollo! Don't waist your money on any other dog training program — you won't regret your decision to start your program with Duffy's!
- RANDA H.
I have been bringing my puppy there for a few weeks, and it is just helping with her manners so much. She has just been in day school, but it is really teaching her.
- KARISSA C.
We have been going to Duffy's for about a month now and we are already seeing a huge improvement in our 5-month-old Doberman puppy, Rocky. Of course, he still has the energy you'd expect from a 5-month-old, but once you put the leash on him - he knows it's time for business! We owe it to the trainers at Duffy's Dog Training Center, specifically David. David is very knowledgeable and Rocky seems to enjoy being with him during our one on lessons. We love taking Rocky out and showing him off.
We look forward to completing the full-training program and beginning the personal protection program when the time is right. Five stars for Duffy and his team, and I would recommend them 1,000 times!
- KELLYE S.
Professional. Knowledgable. Experienced. Duffy's was highly recommended from family, friends and our vet. I now understand why! Everyone from the neighbors to our groomer to the cashier at the pet stores have noticed a calmer dog. She still loves the attention, but now patiently sits or lays down for petting and belly rubs. And I can't tell you how pleasurable it is to walk a dog on a loose lead with no worries. I'm confident that no matter what we encounter on walks or hikes, my dog will not react.
I've enjoyed working with David. Thanks to his guidance and expertise the past few months, my elkhound has become the best behaved dog we've ever had in the family. After completing the initial 10 training sessions, I've decided to focus on more advanced skills like off lead obedience. We even participated in the confidence course today! What a hoot! My dog had so much fun! It was our first Saturday workshop, but we look forward to others.
- KATHY C.
My family and I adopted a blue heeler rat terrier mix from a local shelter and knew we needed to get her trained as we have two small kids in the home. We took the dog to Duffy's for an evaluation and to set up training sessions. With the information learned from the evaluation, I was able to begin training before she started classes. And within a week, we have seen a night and day difference in the dog. Fantastic staff, compassion, caring, and informative. I felt very comfortable with the trainers, and the one-on-one sessions were easy to follow! Again, all I can say is AMAZING!! Do not waste your time at any other trainers! Duffy's is the only place we will go again!!!
- TREVOR
My husband and I adopted a beautiful 1-year-old Rottweiler from an animal shelter a year ago. A very loving and happy dog but seemed to have some "intolerance" issues. We were recommended Duffy's by our dog store supplier and we took him for an evaluation. Before even leaving the evaluation, we saw a difference in the behavior of our Little Bear! We enrolled him in the full program and cannot believe the difference in the type of dog he has become even after the first visit. He is still in the program and loving it and so are we! When we tell him in the mornings "time to go to school", he heads to the door, pounds his paw on it........almost like he's telling us "yippe it's school time! Lets go!"
He comes home after his training sessions very happy and content. The staff is very highly skilled, compassionate and extremely informative. We travel almost an hour to have him in this program and we wouldn't even consider ever taking any of our dogs anywhere else!!
- LYNNE S.
We've had a great experience at Duffy's. The whole staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. We've had three different trainers due to my schedule conflicts, and they all seem to pick up right where the other dropped off. Each has their own way of making it as easy as possible. My german shepard is totally changed for the better and we are so glad we came here. We're even gonna do some more classes and possibly protection training in the future. They've made a total believer in myself to have the confidence and training to be comfortable in most situations (still a lot of work on my end) with Max. Would and do refer Duffy's to anyone who asks. If they had T-shirts, I'd wear them regularly.
- WILLIAM J.
We were worried when we brought our puppy home and realized it had been 14 years since we had experienced the joys of puppyhood and our lives were a lot different then then they are now. We were short on time and Duffy's team helped us tremendously in speeding up the training process, teaching us old dogs some new tricks and now we enjoy our time with a well-mannered companion so much more. Highly recommend the team there.
- DARIN M.
If you want a well-behaved dog and a great understanding of how to continue training, this is the perfect place. The staff is amazing here. They not only train your dog, but also train you to know how to treat your animal. I've recommended them dozens of times now.
- EDWARD S.
Great experience. I already notice a difference in my dog's behavior and response. I would definitely recommend and will go back.
- KEVIN C.
We own two very energetic boxer puppies and were having a hard time curbing some of their undesired behavior. We did the free evaluation, which Duffy's offers, and discussed the issues we were having with the pups jumping on people and not respecting boundaries, going for food that did not belong to them, and pulling when on leash. We could tell right away that the experts at Duffy's knew their stuff. After only 2 daycare sessions, our pups' behavior improved noticeably. They are much more respectful of our space, more attentive to commands, and walk on leash with little to no difficulty. As with most pups they are still a work-in-progress and need a lot of direction, but I feel confident in their continued improvement because of the training they're receiving from Duffy's. If you're looking for quality training for your dog, I highly recommend these trainers.
- DANIEL B.
My german shepherd puppy is a delight, but he can be very headstrong. We have not had a puppy this young before, and with another dog and a cat, we wanted to make sure he learned good behavior early. We have had him in the day school program for a week and are already starting to see a difference. He is more attentive when we give him commands and is not chasing our cat around the house like he once did. I can't wait to see what will happen with more work!
- CLAIRE E.
My dogs have been going here for two weeks and the change has been remarkable. Everyone that works here is pleasant and treats my dogs as if they were their own. Highly recommend this place, especially the day school and private lessons!!
- PATRICIA H.
I soooo appreciated their experience and wisdom to help me have the dog I have now. My dog is a german Shepard/lab mix and coming to my home was the first stable home he's ever had - however he didn't know boundaries. Through both the trainers working with my dog and me (the owner) working with my dog at home, I was amazed at how fast my dog learned commands. I loved my trainer, David, who helped me to learn how my dog thinks and learns so I could communicate with my dog so that we understand each other. Duffy's is worth the money and the time to invest in your dog because it's a lifetime investment that I am still appreciating.
- LINDSAY T.
I brought my goldendoodle to Duffy's for an evaluation. Tyler made us feel welcome and took the time to learn about our goals and expectations. We are looking forward to a very positive experience as we journey towards mastering our 'Good Citizen' manners.
Thanks Tyler!
- NANCY A.
Again, I would like to thank you and your staff for a great week. Everyone is extremely nice, helpful, considerate, informative, and I feel like you are my friends — family even. Your facility is immaculate — my only complaint is that you are 10 hours away. I would definitely be there more often, if I were closer. Thank you for the encouragement and extra training. The new collar seems to be working quite well — I am hopeful that I can once again enjoy summer with the neighbors without constant worry. I will continue to work on everything that I can and hope to visit again. I would like to do some long-distance training (advice and schedule), if possible.
- BONNIE H.
That house is so much nicer thanks to you. Riggs enjoys being inside and even gets along with the cat. Hope all of you have a wonderful holiday season. I think of you often.

Dear Matt,
What a great article. I am so pleased to hear how well things are going. I bless you every day when I see what a find dog Jesse has become because of you and your methods. Thank you for all the time we had together. I am eager to see your second book.

This is a great dog training book. I have read several dog training books over the years looking for help with my dogs, but this is definitely my favorite. It is obvious that the author has a genuine love for dogs. Unlike most dog training books without personality, the conversational, witty, and pleasant writing style of this book, as well as the tidy organization of training exercises, makes it simple to quickly reference topics, as well as a book to read for pleasure. In addition to the organization of the training exercises, the pictures clearly demonstrate what the author is describing in his text. This is the first dog training book I have read that actually addressed how to handle your dog when not doing formal obedience with the 5 basic manners lessons.
Finally, after reading dozens of training books I found someone who has clearly defined manners and knows how to teach them!! Other books mention it, but never really tell you how to accomplish it. For instance, I have read in other books not to let your dog jump on guests, duh. I know that, but how? Well, this book explains it very clearly. This book really gives you practical, useful, everyday tools to teach your dog to be an enjoyable member of the family.
If you are looking for an effective, yet enjoyable, book to help you with your unruly canine, then I highly recommend Ten Natural Steps to Training the Family Dog.

Dear Matt,
Offering a simple thank you for your participation in the Louisville Kennel Club’s Responsible Dog Owner Day appears inadequate. We feel truly honored that one of America’s foremost dog trainers took time out of a busy day to give demonstrations of advanced and basic dog obedience, and to patiently answer questions.
Greater Louisville is fortunate to have Duffy’s Dog Training Center accessible to train their dogs. Our club is so lucky to have had you and your staff represent to the public responsible dog ownership. Please know how much all of us in the club appreciate your participation. If I coordinate this event next year, I hope you will be there.
All the best
- MAUREEN S.
Matt’s book on dog training is one of the best I have read. I have had the priveledge of working with Matt in his Kentucky location and love his approach to training. He understand the dog mind and works with each dog to get positive, quick results. It is an amazing thing to watch a dog go from totally misbehaving to being a wonderful member of the family. If you can’t get to his training center than I highly recommend reading his book and putting his philosophy into play with your dog. I am getting more books to give away to people who need some help with their dog training.
- COCAPOO G.
Matthew Duffy’s Ten Natural Steps to Training the Family Dog dispels the myth that dog training can’t be fun and yield outstanding results in a timely manner. Having personally read the text and applied the training methods with two “intact” giant working dogs, I can verify that Mr. Duffy has developed a high quality approach to dog training that delivers the desired results. Mr. Duffy brings over 25 years of diverse dog training experience to the table, and he has concisely summarized his training plan into 150 pages. The beauty of the text, besides the fact it is well written, is that it is supported with high quality photographs that make the training steps easier to understand. Whether you are a novice or advanced trainer, this manual makes training success a much shorter journey.
- DR. JOHN P.
In Ten Natural Steps to Training the Family Dog, Matt Duffy clearly presents training techniques as well as his many insights into the understanding of dogs. Through accessible explanations and accompanying photos Duffy’s “ten natural steps” inspires confidence that the basic training of the family dog is achievable for all involved – pets and humans alike! One walks away from Duffy’s book (as well as his training classes) with enthusiasm and assurance, since he convincingly shows that an added bonus to the training is the natural bonding and enriched relationship which evolves between us and our dogs through this step by step training process.
Whether one has a family pet or a competition dog in any discipline, I consider Matt Duffy’s Ten Natural Steps to Training the Family Dog a prerequisite to a happy, healthy relationship between us and our “best friends.”
- CLARA M.
This will not be a book to be placed on the shelf and left there. I forsee this to be a much-used handbook that’s peppered with dates of accomplishments both for dog and handler.

It’s been a fun year introducing Olive to the household. You guys have helped so much! Thank you for the wonderful guidance and advice.

Dear Matt,
What a great article. I am so pleased to hear how well things are going. I bless you every day when I see what a find dog Jesse has become because of you and your methods. Thank you for all the time we had together. I am eager to see your second book.
With Love
- MITZI

This will not be a book to be placed on the shelf and left there. I forsee this to be a much-used handbook that’s peppered with dates of accomplishments both for dog and handler.

Seti and Navy Earn 2019 Basset Hound Club VCM Titles
Navy and Seti both earned their Basset Hound Club of America Versatility Certificate Master (VCM) titles this past year. Sadly Seti passed away on December 31, 2019. Pictured is Seti's retirement photo, which I am so glad I did before his passing.
Here is an excerpt from the Tally-Ho magazine article written by Freda Burks, Ph.D.
"Terri Ralenkotter has two new Versatility Certificate Master (VCM) boys! Navy has earned both the Versatility Certificate Excellent (VCX) and the VCM. Seti earned the VCM just prior to Terri losing her very special boy. Kudos to CH KasKade Dress Blues at Air Command VCD1 BN RAE RM TDU HH CA CGC TKN VCM (Navy) and CH Kaleidoscope Set in Stone VCD1 RAE OAJ OJP NFP SHH THD VCM (Seti)! I’ve asked Terri to write a special tribute to these boys as both have awed the Basset community that understands the effort that goes into earning multiple titles on our Bassets.
At Nationals 2019, the BHCA board approved the current versatility program update as presented by the Versatility Committee. The program’s goal, from its inception in the late 1980s, has been to honor Bassets that are conformationally sound, that demonstrate using their noses as they were bred to do, and that can also work as part of a human/dog partnership team.
Seti and Navy have always been two different personalities, which helped them on their individual roads to the VCM.
Seti loved showing in any venue, the louder and more crowded the better. Seti was also a wonderful Therapy Dog with 10 years of service. [She] was my first Champion and together we spent many nights in hotels and on the road working on his other titles. He remained a showman in his later years, happily marching around the ring in veteran’s classes. Sadly, we unexpectedly lost Seti on the day I mailed in his VCX points.
Navy is an entirely different personality. He was never a huge fan of the breed ring or crowds. While Seti’s style was slow and steady, Navy would barrel down the track, full speed ahead. Navy easily finished his TD and has had some adventures in tracking as well. Navy likes nothing more than to be with me, and that has served us well in the Rally, Agility and Obedience rings.
These two wonderful boys had two distinct personalities. However, a venue that they both shared as a team was in the field where they braced together during Hunting Performance Tests. This was proof of their shared “hound mentality.”
It has been an honor for me to have had both of these dogs in my life and I will forever be grateful for their breeders for giving me the opportunity to own such great hounds."
As of their earning the VCM, I believe they were #10 and #11 Bassets to earn this title from BHCA.
Stay healthy! I am hoping to work on some tracking and some nose work while this (COVID-19) is all going on.
Terri
Terri, congratulations to you and your fabulous Hounds! It's been my genuine honor to work with you, Seti, and Navy over the years. I look forward to our next training session. Soon! Matthew

Terri's Bassets Came Prepared
Matt, I had an exciting tracking weekend, handling 2 dogs to their TD. I know Beckie told you about her TD. Peach blazed along, really committed to the corners following our singular practice the Monday before (in the pouring rain) using huge rewards of cut up grilled cheese after the corners! She did her track of 450 yds in 5 minutes and the judge commented that “This was how it should be done.” Another comment to me was “You came prepared.” My hours on the treadmill and elliptical paid off since I also did the 450 yds in 5 minutes over some pretty rough field and didn’t die.
Seti’s track was the first one of the day and was in a rolling field with short grass. He was enthusiastic to start and headed right on out and of course he went at his steady pace. His corners were very clean although the wind direction caused a brief problem where he overshot the second corner and I ended up standing on it, so I backed up and rescented him. He gave me a big stink eye and marched off on the correct path never looking back. On the final turn we were about 20 feet from the glove and he caught a cross wind coming through a break in the fence. So after about 5 minutes of standing there air scenting and ignoring my please to “find it,” I backed up and yelled for him and he came, I rescented and he headed right to the glove, grabbing it and throwing it a bit. The judge told me he was about to have a heart attack. I think we all were!
So, we did our 450 yds in 27 minutes. Seti earned his TD and this also earned him his AKC VCD1 (Versatile Companion Dog 1; Dog must have CD, TD, NAJ & NJP). Since Seti will turn 12 years of age on Feb. 28th this is a great accomplishment for him considering due to previous back injuries and now a heart condition, our training has been limited. This now makes him AKC/UKC CH Kaleidoscope Set In Stone VCD1 RAE SHH NFP OAJ OAP THD and he has previously earned his BHCA Versatility Certificate Excellent. Now he will move on to have fun in AKC Scent Work.
We started training with you in 2014 and the firm basics which you taught us paid off.
On the TDX attempt, Navy sought out and found the tracklayer hiding behind her car after catching her scent off the first turn. He became agitated and upset when I tried to get him to go back to the start. In his mind he found her and was done. We tried to walk the track with the tracklayer but he was too upset and would not settle down, so I thought it best to not push the issue. The judge told me that even though he had to put “Quit Working” on the reason to fail, he said if he gets lost in the woods with Alzheimer’s, send this dog to find him. Maybe next time we will get that elusive TDX.
Thanks for all your help and hopefully we can get a class in if it ever stops being ice and snow and rain.

Peach's Victory
Peach finally earned her TD title on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. She gave a stellar performance with Terri handling her. The track was 450-yards long and it took all of five minutes from start to finish. Terri had to break into a trot to keep up with her.
She started enthusiastically on Sunday, making the first turn then kind of getting hung up on the second turn, which was in a depression. She was acting pretty wild, making a small circle of assurance and darting around. Then she made a bigger circle of assurance and committed to her corner, pulling Terri up a hill. I was watching from the car and every time the judges followed I felt good. Cresting the hill, she made another turn and drug Terri along a ridge before heading down toward a road, where she downed on the glove. When Terri picked that thing up and waved it in the air, I thought I would cry.
The judge said later that he figured the scent would pool in the second turn and was complimentary on how quickly and efficiently Peach handled it. Said it was a pleasure to watch her work.
I give my thanks to you, Matt, for your patience and belief she could do it. I believed she could too, just never could seem to get it together until I admitted that I was the weak link in the chain.
So that’s it. Celebrate another victory for Duffy’s!
Thanks again, Matt!

Millie's Doing Well With Baby
It’s been over a year since my dog Millie finished her training, so I’m not sure if you guys remember us. We had David. Millie was very reactive to people, other dogs, kids and on top of that I was pregnant so we were very concerned about her ability to stay in our home once the baby arrived.
Our daughter is a year old and while I will never fully trusted Millie around her, she’s been wonderful with her.
Thank you so much. I know without you guys, we would had to give Millie up.

Dog Aggression Seminar Helped Jax
My name is Casey and my 16-month-old German Shepherd, Jax, and I were invited to participate in the dog aggression seminar. Jax has had explosive dog aggression since he was about six months old. I had no idea how to control it, and it was becoming more difficult to control him as he grew.
He had spent some time at Duffy’s working on this. I can walk him into the building and know that he will not have an outburst there because he knows that it will not be tolerated by the staff. But he was still unmanageable on walks in our neighborhood.
Matt set up a time for me to bring Jax to the training center but not in the building. We did our training on the road out front. Matt told me the things that we were going to accomplish that day, and it included getting very close to another dog and handler. Matt stayed back and instructed me from afar. After a few passes, we were very close to another dog and there had been no outbursts or barking at all.
We were fortunate enough to have two others dogs and their owners that day to practice with. By that time, Matt had given me confidence in myself and my dog so that I could walk Jax near another dog and know what to look for and correct him the right way. We did it with ease.
I have since taken Jax out into our neighborhood with more confidence, and we have had some nice walks. We are not quite all the way there yet, but I now have high hopes for my sweet boy.
I couldn’t have done it without the help of Matt, Josh and David, all of whom endured the heat with me that day.
Thank you and I look forward to doing it again very soon.

Doberman Lover Appreciates Matt Duffy
I am a dog lover! Actually, I love all animals but I don’t know that you can train a cat without it calling you a few names. I have had 3 WONDERFUL Dobermans. They were wonderful simply because of their disposition but also because they were well behaved. Maybe I should say well-trained. All of my babies had their time with Matt Duffy. So did Mom.
I think the dogs got it right and sometimes Mom would mess up but I tried. I found that it was a better relationship when I was not upset because they were jumping on guest, or running away, or tearing something up. Just like a child, you teach your dog to be good because you love them and you don’t want them to get hurt. No, I did not compare a child to a dog. I compared a dog to a child. They are our family. At least in my family they are. All of my dogs were trained by Matt. Allof my dogs will be trained by Matt. I have to add a disclaimer here…. “No son that does not mean we are getting another dog soon!”
I appreciate Matt’s love and respect not only for his pets but for animals as a whole. I appreciate the help he gave my family. Two and four legged.

JMeka, Kiya, Santana, Bloo and Jasmine Are All Learning!
I have one dog doing training at Duffy’s Dog Training. Meka was no less than 80 percent improved our first day! The first DVD is a great learning and teaching tool at home. I have four other dog “kids” that are learning from my training and the DVD. It is wonderful to see the improvements all of the kids are learning. The information on the DVD is so on target. I now walk and am not dragged down the street, all in just two days. The DVD is a tool that no one should do without.
Matthew Duffy: I can’t praise or recommend you enough!
Thank you

Proud Fur-Parents Thanks to Duffy's
To Matt, David and Kathy:
What you have done with Plato is simply amazing! We now have a dog we can have very leisurely walks with, who comes immediately when called, that children are not afraid to pet, which friends say they’d like to have!! We are proud fur-parents due to all your work with Plato. Every time we speak with friends who have pets with behavior issues, we tell them about your program.
Our whole-hearted thanks and appreciation.

Daisy is Less Fearful
Daisy is doing just fine and I have been working with her with loud noises and she is doing better, and she isn’t as afraid. We will bring her back in the spring, when the weather is nice to finish her training. She is very obedient in the doctor offices, even with their service dogs.
We will see you in the spring. Have a safe and blessed holiday.

Congratulations to Terri Ralenkotter and Navy
From Terri Ralenkotter,:
I know Clara emailed you about Navy, but I wanted to thank you personally for all your help. I really hated pulling Track 1. I wanted him to be a bit hungrier, and it did show because he fiddle-farted around between the first two flags before settling in. Had one brief wander off on a deer path, but he abandoned it pretty fast knowing breakfast did not wait at the end of it.
Now I must decide, should I keep going for distance to go for TDX or work on some variable surfaces to go for TDU in preparation for VST.
Maybe you can ponder it before our next lesson. I am very happy to be able to give his breeder, Gene, the happiness of now having a tracking titled dog in his kennel name.
Terri
Message From Matthew Duffy:
It is no small accomplishment to achieve an American Kennel Club’s Tracking Title on the first attempt.
An appropriate training regimen, dedication to the sport, and a strong bond between the dog and handler all melded together to make the title attainable.
Terri and Navy are wasting no time in pursuing their next title: AKC’s Tracking Dog Excellent.
The best of luck to you!

Show Dog
Hi Matt,
You may remember keeper and I. He is the black Brussels griffon that did not like conformation judges. He was not ready for our national specialty in March but I continued working with him. This past weekend Keeper was Best of Breed at the Paducah, KY Kennel Club Show on Sunday. He is now showing again without showing aggression. I owe you lots of thanks for your help and expert advice. Thank you again.
P.S. He earned two more points at this show and now has 10 points.

Camp Canine at Luther Luckett and Duffy’s Dog Training Center Pay Off
David (Benson), I hope your holiday season has been wonderful and you are looking forward to the new year. I just wanted to thank you again for all your efforts through Duffy’s Dog Training Center and the Camp Canine program at Luther Luckett.
We spoke last summer about our adopted 2-year-old shepherd/hound mix, Murphy, and he has continued to prove himself a well-balanced, driven and lovable dog. If it helps to jog your memory, Murphy was relocated from Kentucky to Massachusetts and now lives with my girlfriend and I in the Bay State.
Per your recommendation, we have read Matt Duffy’s books, practice his training methods, and have managed to (mostly) break Murphy’s remaining bad habits of dog-focused aggression, chasing wildlife, and barking in the crate. Murphy’s knowledge of the basic manners and commands he learned through Camp Canine made his transition into our home very smooth. He always impresses neighbors, friends, and family with his wonderful temperament and focus, and has even learned to behave off-leash.
I have attached a picture of Murphy hanging out with my girlfriend’s horse, Apache, at the barn, and another of him sitting calmly while being confronted by a squirrel at Boston Garden several months ago (click on each of them to enlarge). The latter drew quite a crowd due to his calm focus. Please pass our gratitude on to Matt Duffy and the rest of the team, as well as to the inmates of Camp Canine and Oldham County Humane Society. Feel free to share the photos with all of them. It is a testament to the exceptional work you all do.
Best Regards,
Matt & Brielle

Obedient School Worked Wonderfully
My dog had me wrapped around his “little paw”. I was afraid to discipline the dog and he knew it. I started out caging the dog and after 8 months he decided to NOT use his cage anymore and I was tired of fighting with him and he knew it. I took my dog to Matt Duffy’s obedience school for two weeks and I was trained to handle my dog.
My dog is a “pleasure” now to have around the house and he now knows I am the boss. I have NEVER spanked, hit or hurt my dog even when he was disobedient. I have USED the techniques learned at Matt Duffy’s training school and they have worked wonderfully. I would definitely recommend anyone to have their dogs trained by Matt and his staff.

Seti — a Basset hound — Earns RAE
This is Seti, a male Basset hound that just earned his RAE on Monday, Aug. 8, 2014. He is the second BHCA Versatility Title holder in history to earn that title.
Seti and his owner, Teresa Ralenkotter, are also receiving tracking instruction from Matthew Duffy. They are doing the obedience work on their own.
“I want to congratulate Seti and Terry for their accomplishments and the wonderful work they continue to do,” said Duffy.

Uno's Story
When we purchased Uno, our German Shepherd Dog from a reputable breeder with impressive credentials, the idea that our adorable, eager-to-learn puppy would become an aggressive 18 month-old dog would have seemed absolutely ridiculous. But this is exactly what happened.
In fact, his aggressive tendencies began to show at the time when I (Sue) was in the final stages of preparing him for his first AKC obedience trial. My show-ready, supposedly “obedient” dog began to growl and bark, for no apparent reason, at our teen-age son, Alex. We just couldn’t believe it and didn’t know what to make of it.
We had owned a German Shepherd before that I had successfully shown in the obedience ring, but we had neither personally experienced such seemingly unprovoked aggression nor heard about it at the breed club to which we belonged. We and all the dog-savvy people we talked to were at a loss for how to deal with Uno’s behavior. None of their suggestions worked and the situation got progressively worse.
Uno eventually bit both Alex and my husband, Tauras, who then became the primary target of his aggression. Only Nick (our other son) and I were able to safely approach and handle our dog. It was at this point that we were referred to Matthew Duffy.
Matt’s systematic approach to shaping canine behavior and his ability to teach both theory and technique to us is the reason why Uno is still with us. Although he continues to wear a muzzle, slip collar, and leash at all times in the house, his aggression has subsided to the point where he is being slowly reintegrated back into the family. We are currently in the fourth month of what has been a long and difficult journey with plenty of ups and downs. However, we have hope where we thought there was none—and that makes all the difference.

Handler praises Duffy’s Dog Training for immediate changes to dogs
My youngest son and I brought our two German Shepherds in for a free evaluation (our female over enthusiastically greeted people and animals). In less than one hour at Matthew Duffy’s Training Center (Duffy’s Dog Training Center in Jeffersonville, IN) with trainers acting out different real-life situations and training through the entire process, we walked out with two obedient dogs and a plan for a higher level of training.
We came back for the “Confidence Course” and had a great time! Our Lieutenant Alexandria was trained to follow directions around the agility course, and different trainers gave her lessons on focusing on us and not the other many various dogs there.
And when we went home, for the first time ever, she did not upset and attack the other dogs with licks and love. But she rather focused on us just like at Matthew Duffy’s Training Center.
We are so pleased with what they have done for us, we are coming back for every level of education they recommend!
